The Integrated System

Pirelli's Integrated HQ-SRF entails the active participation of municipal bodies and local waste management companies, to safeguard the area through innovative projects involving the use of renewable energy sources.

Application of the Integrated System results in a reduction in the environmental impact of both the waste cycle and cement production and involves integrating the
management of municipal and special waste with the energy system of the cement factory or the thermoelectric power station. The System designed by Pirelli Ambiente is based on the integration of the management of municipal and special waste with the energy system of the cement factory or of the thermoelectric power station and enables:
  • real energy recovery from municipal and special waste
  • use in non-dedicated plants
  • improved overall environmental conditions compared with any other form of disposal
  • economic recognition of the fuel
  • the prospect of lower waste disposal costs for the community compared with alternative solutions (landfill and/or incinerators)

The first Integrated Project promoted by Pirelli Ambiente concerns I.DE.A Granda and envisages that all waste usually delivered for disposal to the landfill of the A.C.S.R. consortium in Borgo S. Dalmazzo is treated by separating the dry fraction from the wet fraction, then treating the dry fraction and processing it in the I.DE.A. GRANDA plant in Roccavione.
