Solar Utility selects the best plant locations based on the optimal combination of the rules of the Decreto "Conto Energia" 2007, the national feed-in tariff for the solar electricity production, and local conditions, for example:

• Best irradiation sites (Southern Italy has up to 40% higher irradiation than the  North),
  
• Wide roof areas without shadows: industrial buildings, logistics, farms, shopping malls,
  
• Asbestos roof to substitute,
  
• Shelters and car parks.

In 2007 Solar Utility signed a convention with the Municipality of Alessano (Lecce) for the construction and management of photovoltaic plants on buildings and lands owned by the Municipality: the plants will allow Alessano to reach significant economic savings, thanks to photovoltaic plants of about 1.1 MegaWatts that will allow for the annual production of "clean" electricity for more than 1,600,000 kiloWatthours, equivalent to the energy consumption of more than 600 families.
